From Dublin

Direct InterCity trains from Dublin Heuston reach Waterford in a little over two hours, calling at Carlow, Thomastown and Kilkenny. Book ahead on Irish Rail for the cheapest fares.

From Kilkenny

Around half an hour on the same line, which makes Waterford an easy add-on to a south east trip, or Kilkenny an easy day out from here.

By bus

The bus station on Merchants Quay handles services from Cork, Dublin city and Dublin Airport. From the stop to our front door is a stroll along the quay.

Once you are here

How far is Number Nine from Plunkett Station?

About a ten minute walk. Leave the station, cross Rice Bridge over the River Suir, turn left onto Merchants Quay and Number Nine is at number 9, a few doors along. It is flat the whole way, and fine with luggage wheels.

Is Number Nine near the Waterford bus station too?

Yes, even closer. The bus station is on Merchants Quay itself, under five minutes on foot from the hotel, with services from Cork, Dublin Airport and beyond.

Which trains serve Waterford?

Plunkett Station has direct InterCity trains to and from Dublin Heuston, calling at Kilkenny, Thomastown and Carlow. Dublin is a little over two hours, Kilkenny around half an hour. Our Getting Around page shows live departure times.

What time is check-in, and can I leave my bags if I arrive early?

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 12 noon. If your train lands you in Waterford before that, message us ahead and we will help with your bags so you can start exploring.

Do I need a taxi from the station?

Honestly, no. The walk over the bridge is shorter than the queue would be, and you get the best first view of the city, the river and the quays as you cross.
